Sacred Art created through intuition, symbolism, and a deep awareness of transformation, memory, and renewal.
I explore the unseen threads that connect us to our histories, our identities, and our personal journeys.
About the Artist
I am Rachel M. Cotton, a mixed media artist, educator, and storyteller based in South Georgia.
My work explores transformation, memory, resilience, and the unseen threads that connect us to ourselves, to one another, and to the stories we carry through life.
Working intuitively with layers of paint, printmaking, collage, hand-carved stamps, and symbolic imagery, I create pieces that invite reflection and reward repeated viewing. Recurring symbols such as moons, birds, eyes, keys, botanical forms, and personal sigils appear throughout my work, creating a visual language that continues to evolve across collections.
Art has been a constant companion throughout my life. What began as a childhood refuge became a lifelong practice of observation, meaning-making, and creative exploration. Today, my work is informed by personal experience, Southern storytelling traditions, nature, mythology, and the belief that beauty and meaning can coexist in the same space.
Alongside my studio practice, I have spent years teaching visual art and encouraging others to discover their own creative voices. This dual life as artist and educator continues to shape the way I approach both process and purpose.
The Path of the Spiritweaver is more than a collection of artwork. It is an evolving body of work that documents transformation, wonder, and the journey of becoming. Each piece is accompanied by written reflections known as Chronicles, offering collectors a deeper connection to the stories and symbolism woven into the work.
Whether displayed in a private collection, healing environment, hospitality space, or family home, my hope is that each piece offers a moment of pause, curiosity, and connection.
