Turning Toward the Sun

There comes a moment when becoming yourself requires less effort than pretending to be someone else.

Sunflowers have always fascinated me. Long before they bloom, they know where to look. Day after day, they turn toward the light without needing permission, certainty, or proof.

This piece emerged during a season of profound change. A season of letting go, rebuilding, grieving, creating, and learning to trust my own inner knowing. As layers of paint, print, texture, and mark-making accumulated across the surface, I realized I was painting more than a flower. I was painting a direction.

The sunflower became a symbol of authenticity.

A reminder that our lives are brief and precious. That blooming is not permanent.

That there are seasons when we are buried in roots and seasons when we are called to lift our faces toward the sun.

The day I shared this piece, a dear friend immediately connected with it. That moment felt significant. For years I have searched for ways to tell my story visually. This was one of the first works that felt like a bridge between my authentic inner world and someone else's.

This original mixed-media gel print marks an important milestone in the evolution of the Spiritweaver path. It represents the moment when many of my creative passions began weaving together into a single visual language.

A language of symbolism, intuition, memory, and hope.

The original artwork has found its home.
