Flight of Transition

Chronicle #060626

There are seasons in life when change arrives uninvited.

A relationship ends. By choice, by destruction, or by death.

A door closes, and a dream has no choice but to change.

The landscape beneath our feet shifts before we've had time to understand what is happening.

And then there are the other kinds of transitions.

The ones we choose.

The moments when we stop waiting for life to happen to us and decide to participate in our own becoming.

Flight of Transition emerged through many layers of paint, texture, and printed impressions of fern fronds gathered from my own front porch. Layer by layer, the piece revealed itself much the same way personal transformation does. Gradually. Through small decisions. Through patience. Through trust.

The butterfly appeared as a symbol of conscious evolution. A reminder that while change is inevitable, growth is a choice.

Throughout the piece, intuitive symbols emerged alongside celestial forms and botanical imagery. Together they create a visual language of support, guidance, and personal responsibility. The moon watches overhead. The forest holds space. The butterfly moves forward.

For me, this work speaks to reclaiming authorship of our own lives.

Not trying to control everything.

Simply choosing to take hold of the reins and take ownership in who we are becoming.

The silver leaf accents catch the light in person, creating subtle shifts across the surface that are difficult to capture in photographs. Like transformation itself, some things can only be fully experienced rather than explained.
