When a Piece Leaves the Studio

Chronicle #061026

There is always a strange moment when a finished piece is wrapped for its journey.

For days, weeks, or sometimes months, it lives here with me. It hangs on a wall, rests on a worktable, or waits quietly among other works in progress. It becomes part of the landscape of my daily life.

Then someone sees it.

Something resonates.

And suddenly it is no longer mine to keep.

Before this sunflower left the studio, I wrapped it in tissue stamped with a hand-carved moon. A small ritual. A quiet blessing for safe travels and new beginnings.

The sunflower has always felt like a symbol of hope to me. Even in difficult seasons, it turns toward the light. Perhaps that is why we are drawn to them. They remind us of something we already know but occasionally forget.

Tomorrow, this piece begins a new chapter in its forever home.

And I find myself grateful once again for the beautiful exchange that happens when art leaves the hands of its maker and becomes part of someone else's story.
