Sock Monkey Odalisque

Acrylic on Canvas
30" x 24" x 2"
In 2011, I found myself fascinated by the playful yet iconic return of sock monkeys in pop culture. I had an idea: What if I took a traditional symbol of beauty and sensuality—the odalisque—and gave it a quirky, whimsical twist? Enter the sock monkey, lounging in all its cheeky, confident glory. This painting is a playful nod to the classic, blending the elegance of the past with a dollop of humor and modern-day charm. A sock monkey queen—royalty in a pair of knitted legs, reminding us that beauty, and humor, can come in unexpected forms.
